Rose Lea School

The school was a Methodist boarding and day establishment, founded in 1882 by Miss Fanny Mary Fox. Subsequent Principals were Miss G. M. Powell, then Alan and Edna Meredith. The school originally catered for girls aged 5 to 18, and by the 1940s also for boys up to 11. At its peak in the 40s and 50s there were 150 pupils. In 1953 the name was changed to Hillam School. In 1962 the site and contents were sold because of bankruptcy.
